Ep 5. Family Business

Michael receives a phone call from his old friend who is a former military doctor, Harlan. Harlan is in Miami and he needs Michael's help to find his son who has been kidnapped by a drug lord. After Harlan's son was taken, Harlan received a ransom call from the kidnapper, who wants $500,000 in exchange for his son's safety. Harlan and his family are not wealthy people and he doesn't have that kind of money. Harlan offers to pay Michael $5,000 if he can help him rescue his son.

Since Harlan is a former military doctor, Michael has a plan to use his expertise to get into the drug lord's compound unnoticed. To do this, they need to get the drug lord's attention. Michael's plan is to steal drugs from the drug lord's operation. Harlan can use his military training to create a diversion while Michael sneaks in to steal the drugs. This will alert the drug lord to their presence and hopefully, they will be taken to the kidnapper.

After successfully stealing the drugs, Harlan and Michael are taken to the drug lord's compound where they find Harlan's son, who is being held captive. They try to reason with the kidnapper, but he demands the ransom money before he will release the boy. Michael uses his charm to talk the kidnapper into letting them go to get the money.

Michael contacts Fiona, his ex-girlfriend and former IRA member, to help him with the ransom money. She agrees to help, but only if Michael helps her first. Fiona thinks that her landlord is stealing her rent money, so she wants to borrow Michael to help her investigate. Michael isn't keen on the idea, but he doesn't have much choice. After investigating the landlord, they discover that it was a misunderstanding and the landlord isn't stealing from Fiona. She then helps Michael get the ransom money and Harlan's son is released.

The episode concludes with Michael and Fiona wondering why Harlan's son was kidnapped. They believe it was because of the drugs that they stole from the drug lord. They speculate that they might have stumbled on a much bigger operation than they realized. Michael says that he will need to investigate further to find out.
