Cheyenne is a classic western television series that originally aired in 1955. The show follows the adventures of Cheyenne Bodie, a former army scout turned drifter who wanders the American West seeking work and trouble. Season three episode seven, entitled "Hired Gun," sees Cheyenne arriving in the small town of Dry Wells to apply for a job as a ranch hand.

The episode begins with Cheyenne riding into town on his horse, looking for work. He comes across a group of men who are having trouble corralling a herd of wild mustangs, and he offers to help. After showing off his horse-handling skills, Cheyenne impresses the men and they offer him a job as a ranch hand.

The ranch in question is owned by a man named John Rowan, who is having trouble with a neighboring rancher named Dan Blake. Blake has been stealing Rowan's cattle and causing trouble for his ranch hands. Rowan believes that hiring Cheyenne will help him deal with Blake and his gang of outlaws.

Cheyenne agrees to take the job, and he quickly proves his worth to Rowan by foiling an attempted robbery by Blake and his men. However, Cheyenne soon discovers that there is more to the situation than meets the eye. Rowan is not the upstanding citizen he appears to be, and Blake is not the only one causing trouble in Dry Wells.

As Cheyenne delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers that Rowan and his men are using the ranch as a front for their criminal activities. They are smuggling stolen goods and using the ranch as a base of operations. Cheyenne must decide whether to turn Rowan and his men over to the law or to help them defeat Blake and his gang once and for all.

The situation comes to a head when Blake kidnaps Rowan's daughter, Mary, in an attempt to force Rowan to hand over his stolen goods. Cheyenne and Rowan team up to rescue Mary and take down Blake and his men. The ensuing gunfight is tense and action-packed, with Cheyenne and Rowan fighting side by side against Blake's gang.

In the end, Cheyenne and Rowan emerge victorious. Blake is apprehended, and Rowan agrees to turn over his stolen goods and face justice. Mary is reunited with her father, and Cheyenne says goodbye to Rowan and the people of Dry Wells as he continues his never-ending journey across the American West.

Overall, season three episode seven of Cheyenne is a classic example of the western genre. It features all of the hallmarks of a great western story, including gunfights, horseback riding, and cowboy heroics. The storyline is engaging and action-packed, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Fans of the western genre will not be disappointed by "Hired Gun."
