Come Dine With Me Season 10 Episode 1 West Yorkshire - All in One
- March 8, 2009
Come Dine With Me has been around for ten seasons and the first episode of season ten doesn't disappoint. The show takes us to West Yorkshire, where four strangers have accepted the challenge of hosting the others for a dinner party. The contestants will each host a dinner party, and after every dinner party, guests will rate their hosts with scores of one to ten. A winner will be named at the end of the week, and they will win a cash prize of one thousand pounds.
The first contestant on the list is Gareth, a local football referee from Leeds. Gareth is full of enthusiasm, and when he meets his guests, he tells them about his love for sports. The guests are impressed by Gareth's football-themed party, where he serves traditional pies and pints. As they start to settle in, Gareth realizes that he may have made a mistake co-hosting his party with his wife, Fiona. Gareth ends up in the kitchen preparing food while his guests are left to entertain Fiona. However, he manages to pull off a decent meal and earns a respectable score.
Next up is Dee, an accomplished artist who is passionate about her vegetarianism. Dee has prepared a beautifully decorated garden-themed dinner party. The guests are impressed by the variety of vegetarian dishes, which include beetroot and feta tartlets and asparagus wrapped in parma ham. However, Dee's passion for vegetarianism becomes overwhelming as the evening progresses, and she starts to lecture her guests about the environmental impact of meat-eating. Despite this, Dee impresses the guests with her dessert, and Gareth can't resist licking the plate clean.
Third up is Craig, a sales executive who has planned an all in one party featuring all types of cuisines from around the world. Craig has gone overboard with his menu, serving Chinese dumplings, sausages and mash, and Indian samosas, among others. The guests are initially nervous about the eclectic spread, but as they sit down, they are surprised to find that it works. The variety of food impresses the guests, and they appreciate the effort that Craig has put into his party. Craig also keeps the party lively by introducing a drinking game, which results in some hilarious moments. Craig's party earns the highest score of the week so far.
Last but not least, we have Jan, a retired nurse who is passionate about health and fitness. Jan serves up a low-fat dinner party, which is appreciated by her guests. However, Jan's party lacks the excitement and energy of the previous parties. Her guests are polite, but they can't help being a little bored. Jan's saving grace is her dessert, which is a low-fat cheesecake that blows everyone away. Jan gets a score that is respectable enough to keep her in the running.
The show culminates in the announcement of the winner, and it's not the obvious choice. Craig, who impressed everyone with his all in one party, comes in second place. The surprise winner is Gareth, who managed to pull off a decent meal despite the odds against him. Gareth is ecstatic about his win, and the guests are happy for him.
Come Dine With Me season 10 episode 1 was an enjoyable watch, with a good balance of drama and entertainment. The contestants were diverse and showed that anyone can host a dinner party, regardless of their profession or background. The show also highlighted that food is an essential aspect of bringing people together, and it's a way for hosts to express their personalities and tastes. Overall, an entertaining episode, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves food and reality TV!
