In the episode "Census Sensibility" of the Canadian sitcom Corner Gas season 4, the town of Dog River is preparing for the upcoming national census. Brent, the owner of the Corner Gas station, is assigned as the local census coordinator and takes the job very seriously. He even enlists the help of his friends and family to ensure that every resident of Dog River is accurately counted.

However, things take a comedic turn when Hank, Brent's best friend and employee, accidentally destroys all of the completed census forms. This forces Brent and company to start the entire process over again. As they go door-to-door trying to gather information, they encounter some eccentric Dog River residents who are less than cooperative.

Meanwhile, Lacey, the owner of the local coffee shop, is struggling with her competitive side as her neighboring restaurant, the Ruby Cafe, is overtaking her business. She decides to take matters into her own hands and starts offering free coffee to anyone who completes the census with her instead of Brent.

As the deadline for the census approaches, Brent becomes increasingly frazzled and worried that he won't be able to complete the task on time. His stress level reaches its peak when he discovers that there is one resident who has not been accounted for and he must track them down before it's too late.

In the end, the census is completed and Brent can breathe a sigh of relief. The town's population is officially recorded and life in Dog River returns to normal - until the next big town event.
