The episode "Safe Space" which is the 10th episode of season 4 of the show Coroner revolves around the aftermath of Jenny's heartbreaking personal revelation viewers saw in the prior episode. In the wake of the previous episode's events, Jenny has a truly needed call with her mother, and viewers can see the way they've moved their relationship forwards. Also, it's Jenny's wedding anniversary and despite having left Edmonton for the day, she discovers herself without people to share in the memories of her husband.

Furthermore, a critical realisation strikes Jenny as she's walking around the city. One of her LGBTQIA+ protégés was found dead in a public restroom with no identification, and their identity was subsequently discovered, and Jenny feels how our culture has failed the individual. Jenny discovers that the individual retreated to the restroom as a "safe space" from a world that didn't accept them. The episode reflects the significance of secure spaces for persons from groups who've experienced discrimination.

As she investigates the death, she sees the way different individuals from that group interacted with the world, how they were handled by the police and the rest of society, and how that evolved over time. Jenny also meets Jason, a person who runs a safe meeting place for the community, and who proves a fundamental source of help in the episode. Through this experience, Jenny's past experiences as a coroner progress how she handles the case, and she tries to apply the same sensitivity that Jason approaches his work, to ensure the individual is treated with compassion and respect in death, especially in a society where all too often, they did not feel it in life.

The episode also touches on the idea of prejudice, a theme that's come up in different ways throughout the series, but still remains highly important.

Jenny's new relationship also continues, and her partner attempts to express her love by planning an anniversary celebration, but accidentally ends up starting an argument.

As the episode progresses, Jenny discovers how prevalent this issue of safe spaces is, especially for the individuals that are rejected by society, and finds out that Jason is not the only person providing these safe spaces to deal with the frequent sense of vulnerability and isolation experienced as a minority.

The episode concludes with viewers seeing Jenny more invested than ever in the individuals for whom she advocates, and the fight for the proper recognition of the respect, love and dignity of every individual irrespective of their identity.

To summarise, Safe Space, the 10th episode of the 4th season of The Coroner is a poignant episode that deals with the realities of safe spaces and the need for them for some minorities, the biases and prejudices that exist in our society, and the importance of treating each other with dignity and compassion. The episode also touches on Jenny's relationship and the way it's progressed, adding some personal depth to the broader themes of the episode.
