The show is set in 2071 aboard the star ship Bebop. It follows the mixed crew of bounty hunters, led by the ship's captain Jet Black. Spike Spiegel is an ex-assassin for the Red Dragon syndicate. He is haunted by his past and the loss of his mysterious lover Julia. Jet Black is a former Police detective who retired after a mob hit almost cost him his life. Faye Valentine is a con artist from the past who has lost her memory, slowly regaining fragments of who she was as the show progresses. Finally, there is "Radical" Edward, a young girl super hacker who is notoriously wanted for her Intergalactic hacking crimes. Later in the show the crew obtains a super dog named Ein. The show often emphasizes each individual's past and their struggles to confront their demons. Each episode the crew is in pursuit of a big bounty that should be an easy job, but with the Bebop crew nothing is easy.
