Susan Mayer is ready to sell her house but is unable to because of the high renovation costs that she can't afford, so she decides to hire one of her sneaky and malicious clients, Ian Haines, to fix it up. However, Ian's idea of a fixer-upper includes getting rid of Susan's garage, which she wants to keep, and adding some expensive fixtures that Susan can't possibly pay for, leaving her frustrated and out of options.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle Solis has to deal with the repercussions of her affair with her teenage gardener, John Rowland. She tries to get him to stay away from her but he doesn't seem to get the message. When they're caught together by Gabrielle's husband Victor Lang, Gabrielle comes up with an elaborate lie to keep her marriage from falling apart, but it only makes things worse for everyone.

Bree Van de Kamp shocks her friends by enrolling in art school, but they are even more surprised when they see the provocative painting she made of her husband, Orson. When the art class objects to it, Bree must decide whether to stand up for her art or give in to the pressure.

Lynette Scavo is trying to mend her relationship with her mother, Stella, who threatens to reveal that Lynette was partially responsible for her own father's abandonment. To keep her mother quiet, Lynette agrees to carry out her dying wish, which is to scatter her ashes across her favorite place: a lake where she used to swim in as a child. However, things don't go as planned when the urn goes missing mid-flight, causing a chaotic situation that Lynette desperately tries to fix.

Lastly, Edie Britt tries her best to flirt with Carlos Solis, who has recently become available after divorcing Gabrielle. However, his newfound freedom doesn't necessarily mean he's interested in Edie, and he ends up going on a date with someone else instead, leaving Edie feeling dejected and vulnerable.
