The premiere episode of Devious Maids' third season titled "Awakenings" opens with the maids scattered across different parts of Beverly Hills, post the shocking and traumatic events of last season's finale. After the unexpected death of their employer, Beverly Hills millionaire Evelyn Powell, played by Rebecca Wisocky, the maids Marisol, Carmen, Zoila, and Rosie, are trying to piece their lives back together. Meanwhile, they are also forced to deal with their own personal problems and secrets that could unravel their tightly-knit group of friends.
Marisol, played by Ana Ortiz, is the new head of housekeeping at the Powell mansion, but as she is adjusting to her new position, she is also grieving the loss of her boyfriend Nick, played by Mark Deklin. She is dealing with the guilt of not being able to save him and trying to keep herself occupied by taking care of the house and its new owner, a younger and tech-savvy heiress named Taylor Stappord, played by Brianna Brown. However, not everything is as it seems, and Marisol will soon learn that there may be more to Taylor's arrival than just inheriting the Powell mansion.
Carmen, played by Roselyn Sanchez, is now a successful singer and is dating a rich and influential music executive named Sebastian, played by Gideon Glick. However, her newfound success is causing a strain in her relationship with her maid colleagues, who are still struggling to make ends meet. Carmen also faces a moral dilemma when Sebastian asks her to record a racy music video that goes against everything she believes in.
Zoila, played by Judy Reyes, is adjusting to life as a single mother after breaking up with her husband, but her children's constant demands and her own insecurities are starting to take a toll on her. She is also dealing with her own secrets that could affect her relationship with her friends, especially when it involves her former employer Genevieve Delatour, played by Susan Lucci.
Rosie, played by Dania Ramirez, is living in New York with her new husband Spence, played by Grant Show, and their young son Tucker. However, she is still haunted by the events that took place in Beverly Hills and is finding it hard to adjust to her new life. Her friendship with her former employer Peri Westmore, played by Mariana Klaveno, and her husband's estranged son gives her hope, but she soon realizes that Beverly Hills' secrets have followed her all the way to New York.
As the season progresses, the maids find themselves embroiled in a murder investigation, a new romance, a new pregnancy, blackmail, betrayal, and a shocking reveal that will change their lives forever. The premiere episode sets the tone for a dramatic and suspenseful season, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering what will happen next.
