Dirty Jobs Season 3 Episode 11 Snake Wrangler

Mike Rowe is back again, making his way through more disgusting and dirty jobs on the third season of Dirty Jobs. In this episode, Mike takes on the challenging job of a snake wrangler.

Mike heads to the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia where he meets snake expert Jack Currence. Jack's job entails removing snakes from people's homes, businesses, and other public areas. While many people might find this job unappealing, Jack is passionate about it and assures Mike that the snakes he deals with are not venomous.

Mike and Jack head out on a boat to go deep into the swamp and search for snakes. As they move deeper into the swamp, they come across a variety of different snakes, including cottonmouths, copperheads, and rat snakes. Each snake requires a different approach and technique to capture, so Jack provides Mike with a bit of an education on the different types of snakes as well as how to approach them safely.

Once a snake is caught, Jack carefully puts it in a bag and brings it back to his facility. Here, Mike gets a closer look at the snakes and learns more about Jack's process for handling and taking care of them.

Next, Mike heads to Texas where he meets snake wrangler and researcher Dr. Bruce Means. Bruce is also passionate about snakes and spends his time studying their behavior and habitats. Mike joins Bruce on a snake hunt in the forest where they search for the elusive Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake.

As they make their way through the forest, Bruce demonstrates his technique for capturing snakes. He uses a tool called a snake hook which allows him to safely and humanely remove the snake from its environment. The trick is to be quick and precise, as the snakes are unpredictable and can strike at any moment.

Mike also gets to witness some of Bruce's research in action as he measures and weighs a captured snake to collect data. Bruce explains that snake populations are in danger due to habitat loss and other factors, so it's important to study and protect them.

Finally, Mike heads to New York City where he meets snake catcher John Leone. John's job is to capture snakes that have made their way into people's homes or other public areas. Mike joins John on a call to a home in Staten Island where a black snake has taken up residence in a closet.

John brings his snake-catching equipment along, which includes a long snake-catching pole and a bag to capture the snake. After a few tense moments, John is able to successfully capture the snake and bring it safely outside.

Throughout the episode, Mike gets up close and personal with a variety of different snakes and learns more about their behavior, habitat, and importance to the ecosystem. Although it may not be a job for everyone, snake wrangling is a vital service to keep people safe and protect these fascinating creatures.
