Hannah Yoder is an 18-year-old Amish girl who has reached a crossroads in her life. Her father wants her to be baptized into the church and to marry her boyfriend, Samuel. Before she takes this big step, her friends convince her to go on Rumspringa with them in Hollywood.

Rumspringa is a rite of passage for teenagers in the Amish community. It is a chance for them to experience life without the restrictions normally put upon them by the Amish faith. During her trip, Hannah meets Josh, a DJ living in Los Angeles. Josh and Hannah instantly click, and they spend the remainder of her time in LA together.

On her last night in LA, Hannah confides in Josh, telling him that she has decided to stay in LA with him and not be baptized. However, she must first go home and tell her family the news.

Upon returning home, Hannah realizes that leaving her family is harder than she anticipated. When she finds out that she is pregnant, she must decide whether to stay home and marry Samuel, raising the baby as his, or return to LA to be with Josh and risk being shunned by her family forever.
