Ep 2. Knock, Knock

After the dramatic ending of Gotham season 2 premiere, episode two titled "Knock, Knock" continues to build the tension. The episode takes us deeper into the streets of Gotham as chaos reigns over the city.

The episode opens with the GCPD trying to maintain control of the city, but things are quickly spiraling out of hand. The newly formed group, The Maniax, have taken over the city, and the GCPD is struggling to keep up with their madness. The Maniax, led by Jerome Valeska (played by Cameron Monaghan), are a group of inmates who escaped from Arkham Asylum and are wreaking havoc throughout the city.

As the episode progresses, we see the havoc that The Maniax are causing. They take over a live TV news station, forcing the on-air personalities to read their manifesto. They also kidnap the mayor and police commissioner, leading to a tense standoff with GCPD.

Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne (played by David Mazouz) is dealing with his own troubles. Keen to discover more about his father's work, he enlists the help of Lucius Fox (played by Chris Chalk), Wayne Enterprises' R&D head. The two uncover a secret underground elevator within Wayne Enterprises which leads to Thomas Wayne's secret office. Here they discover a way to access important files, and with that, a possible way of exposing the corruption within Wayne Enterprises itself.

Back at the GCPD, Jim Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie) is dealing with the city-wide crisis caused by The Maniax. Jim is torn between his duty to the GCPD and his personal relationships with people affected by the crisis. As events unfold, Jim is faced with a decision that could change his life forever.

As the episode continues, the tension builds towards a climactic finale, which sees The Maniax executing their ultimate plan. Meanwhile, Bruce and Lucius continue their investigation and find themselves in trouble when they discover they're being watched.

"Knock, Knock" is a gripping episode that builds on the strong foundations set in the season 2 premiere. With the addition of The Maniax, the stakes are raised, and the tension is higher than ever before. The episode also does an admirable job of showcasing Bruce Wayne's progress towards becoming the Dark Knight, and the introduction of Lucius Fox adds a new sense of intrigue going forward. Ultimately, "Knock, Knock" sets up a thrilling season of Gotham full of twists and turns, and one that fans won't want to miss.
