Green Lantern: The Animated Series is a science fiction, action-adventure series based on the superhero of the same name from DC Comics. The CGI-animated program airs in the United States on the cable channel Cartoon Network. Hal Jordan has two jobs. One is a test pilot for Ferris Industries; the other is the galactic guardian of sector 2814 known as Green Lantern. Equipped with a ring that emits a green energy and gives him the ability to fly, Hal is a member of the larger galactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. He is also considered a bit of a troublemaker by the Guardians - the short, blue-skinned aliens that keep watch over the Corps and the green lantern that is their power source. In the first arc of the series, Hal, along with partner Kilowog and the sentient AI of their ship known as Aya, are thrust into Frontier Space where a vicious group of ring-wielders known as the Red Lanterns, led by evil Atrocitus, are wreaking havoc with the population and making their way towards OA, home of the Guardians and Green Lantern Corps. The second arc staus closer to home, with Hal dealing with the new GL of section 2814, Guy Gardner, and him being reunited with Kilowog, Aya, and converted Red Lantern Razer to defeat the ever-growing threat of the robotic Manhunters and their leader the Anti-Monitor. Green Lantern; The Animated series is executive produced by Sam Register and Bruce Timm. It premiered on Cartoon Network in November of 2011 and was part of the channel's DC Nation block of shows. In January 2013, the series was canceled.
