Ep 1. Genesis

In Guilty Crown season 1 episode 1, titled Genesis, viewers are introduced to a post-apocalyptic world set in the year 2029. In this world, a virus known as the Apocalypse Virus has devastated the majority of the human population, leaving only Japan under the control of the United Nations.

The show follows the story of Shu Ouma, a high school student who is reluctant to involve himself in politics or conflicts that are occurring around him. However, Shu's life is turned upside down when he encounters a girl named Inori Yuzuriha, who is a part of the resistance group, Funeral Parlor. While attending an outdoor music festival, Inori is attacked by government agents who are after a mysterious container that she carries with her. In the ensuing chaos, Shu ends up with the container in his possession.

As Shu attempts to figure out the contents of the container, he discovers that it contains the "Void Genome," a powerful weapon that can turn human emotions into physical weapons. While attempting to understand the potential of the Genome, Shu is confronted by one of the agents who had attacked Inori earlier. In a moment of desperation, Shu uses the Genome and discovers that he has the ability to extract physical objects from others that are linked to their emotions.

From here, the show takes on a more action-based format as Shu is forced to work alongside Funeral Parlor in their fight against the government forces. Along the way, he discovers that the leader of the organization, Gai Tsutsugami, has his own personal agenda in mind and that the war may not be as black and white as it initially seemed.

Overall, Genesis sets up the world and characters of Guilty Crown while also introducing the show's main concept of the Void Genome and the emotional power dynamics that come with it. The episode is action-packed and suspenseful, making for an engaging introduction to the series.
