Jonathan discovered a file containing information on the Blaines' family wealth, while Jennifer uncovered a report regarding the house's defects. These findings strengthened the Harts' suspicion about the Blaines; Jonathan decides to confront them.

Jonathan believed that two employees were being taken advantage of by the Blaines for their own selfish gains - Blaines had enticed a young couple with an assumed inheritance for work on the defects. Knowing that they found out about the reports and the files, the Harts conclude that the Blaines are responsible for Holmquist's death. The Blaines confess to doing so and reveal their motive.
