Ep 8. Homecoming Special

The fifth season of Holiday Baking Championship comes to a delightful end with its eighth and final episode, the Homecoming Special. In this episode, the last three bakers return to the competition with a homecoming hero's welcome. The competition kicks off with a pre-heat challenge--the bakers must bake an edible and delicious pizza-themed dessert. The challenge tests the skills of the bakers as they need to create a dish that is sweet and a nod to their past pizza memories. The contestants whip up dishes that are a variety of sweet pizzas, such as classic Italian cannoli pizza, fruity raspberry pizza with cream cheese ice cream, and a chocolate s'mores pizza with marshmallow fluff. In the main heat, the contestants are tasked with creating a Christmas morning breakfast for a large group of people. They need to produce two delicious and original dishes--one that is savory and the other sweet--that evoke memories of a classic Christmas breakfast. The bakers get creative and produce a range of delights, from traditional cinnamon rolls to savory quiches and tarts. Each creation is judged on taste, presentation, and ability to please a large group.

As the final round approaches, the judges scrutinize each baker's previous challenges and judge the overall presentation, taste, and creativity shown throughout the competition. The final challenge is designing and creating an elaborate, sugar plum-inspired cake. The bakers have three hours to create a beautiful and tasty cake, featuring the most mythical and magical Christmas visions. The contestants use their imaginations and skills to produce cakes that are truly awe-inspiring.

As always, the judges, Duff Goldman, Nancy Fuller, and Lorraine Pascal, are tough to please and are only looking for the best of the best baked goods. The winner of the episode will take home the grand cash prize of $25,000 and the prestigious title of Holiday Baking Champion.

In addition to the judges, the final episode includes some of the most memorable contestants of the season, who returned to the show to celebrate the final and cheer on the remaining bakers.
