Hot Bench Season 3 Episode 88 Happy Birthday! I Got You Nothing!; Manslaughter and Heartache
- November 23, 2016
In season 3 episode 88 of Hot Bench titled "Happy Birthday! I Got You Nothing!; Manslaughter and Heartache," Judge DiMango presides over a case involving a young woman who claims her ex-boyfriend owes her money for a birthday gift she never received. The plaintiff alleges that despite asking for a specific necklace as a gift, her ex-boyfriend failed to deliver on her birthday. As a result, she contends that he owes her the amount that the necklace would have cost.
The defendant, on the other hand, argues that he never agreed to purchase the necklace and that he had already given the plaintiff a different gift. He maintains that he did not understand the importance of the necklace to the plaintiff and that he should not be held responsible for her disappointment.
Meanwhile, Judge Tanya Acker hears a case involving a man who is accused of causing a fatal car accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. The plaintiff in this case is the mother of the victim, who is seeking damages from the defendant. She argues that the defendant's reckless behavior caused the death of her son and that he should be held accountable for his actions.
The defendant, however, claims that he was not drunk at the time of the accident and that his blood alcohol level was within the legal limit. He also argues that there were other factors at play that contributed to the crash and that he should not be solely responsible for the victim's death.
Finally, Judge Patricia DiMango presides over a case involving a woman who claims that her ex-boyfriend owes her money for a loan that she gave him. The plaintiff alleges that she lent the defendant a significant amount of money to help him pay off his debts and that he has not reimbursed her.
The defendant, however, contends that he did repay the plaintiff and that she is making false claims against him. He maintains that the plaintiff has a history of loaning money to people and then demanding more than what was agreed upon, and that he is simply the latest victim of her tactics.
As the judges listen to the testimony presented in each case, they must evaluate the evidence and witness statements to determine who is in the right. With issues of birthday gifts, manslaughter, and loans on the table, the judges face challenging decisions that will impact the lives of the plaintiffs and defendants involved.
