Ep 2. I'm Not Her

As the second episode of season 4 of How to Get Away with Murder opens, we find Annalise back in the classroom teaching at Middleton University once again. This time, she's helping to mold the minds of young law students on the intricacies of Criminal Law; however, she's not the head of the class anymore. In fact, she's not the one teaching; instead, she's guiding her former students as they pursue this year's winning case.

As the class tries to figure out who is responsible for a woman's death, Annalise sits in on the discussions, offering her expertise and occasionally giving them a gentle push in the right direction. However, the case quickly becomes more personal when Michaela and Asher inadvertently involve themselves in the investigation. The two students, who are now busy working for a firm, have information that could help solve the case but their involvement could put them in the crosshairs of the powerful people behind the woman's murder.

Meanwhile, Bonnie is trying to deal with her past and current relationship with Annalise. Bonnie is still working for Denver, the Attorney General who has a grudge against Annalise. And, as we discover early in the episode, Bonnie isn't doing it for the money. Instead, she admits that she wants to prove to Annalise that she is still loyal to her and that she regrets betraying her in the past.

As the episode progresses we learn more about Bonnie's mysterious past and how it is continuing to haunt her present. This includes delving into the relationship between Bonnie and her sister Julie, who is now hospitalized. The deep emotional scars that Bonnie carries from her childhood will leave viewers on the edge of their seats as they try to piece together how it all relates to the current storyline.

Despite being “out of the game,” Annalise remains fully in control as she manipulates everyone around her to get what she wants. We see this firsthand when she uses her relationship with Isaac (her therapist) to get close to his patient and her former lover, Jaclyn Shaw, a recovering addict. Annalise is determined to find out what Jaclyn has been saying to Isaac about her own addiction issues. It's clear that Annalise has some particular obsession with Jaclyn, and we're not sure what her end game is with the mysterious figure.

Overall, How to Get Away with Murder Season 4, Episode 2: "I'm Not Her" is an intense and riveting hour of television that will have viewers on the edge of their seats. The intricate plot, peeling back layers of both old and new characters, leads to an ending that will leave you wanting more and more. The episode offers a glimpse into the complicated relationships between Annalise, her former students, and everyone in their orbit.
