As Hone Onna watches Takeshi's soul ascend to the underworld, she is wracked with guilt and begins to question her role in ferrying the souls of the dead. She reflects on the fleeting nature of life and wonders if there is any real purpose to her work.
Meanwhile, Ai Enma, the Hell Girl herself, is approached by a man named Shibata who wishes to exact revenge on his former boss. Shibata tells Ai of the many abuses he and his coworkers suffered at the hands of their boss, and he is determined to make him pay for what he has done.
But Ai warns Shibata of the consequences of using her services. Once a contract is made with Hell Girl, there is no going back, and the price of revenge can be steep.
Despite Ai's warning, Shibata proceeds with the contract, and Ai sends her three minions to carry out the task. But as they approach the target, they are intercepted by supernatural beings who warn them that the soul they are about to claim is not meant for them.
Confused and uncertain, the minions return to Ai, who realizes that they have been tricked by a higher power. She confronts the source of the deception and learns that the target of the revenge plot is actually a good and decent man who has never done anything wrong.
Realizing the error of their ways, Hone Onna, Ai, and the minions all join forces to try and undo the damage that has been done. But as they rush to prevent Shibata from carrying out his revenge, they are confronted by a powerful and malevolent force.
