Welcome to Fumizuki Acadamy--a school where students are ranked and placed in classrooms according to test scores, and virtual battles may be carried out with high-tech summoned 'avatars' that resemble their student summoner! The coveted Class A encases all the top-grade students and provides every luxury the school has to offer--while the lowest-ranked Class F is left with broken tables, drafty rooms, and seat cushions. In the midst of the Class F 'losers and idiots' of the competitive Fumizuki Academy is the delicate and princess-like Mizuki Himeji with the brains of an A-class student--but terrible luck, as she's hit with a terrible fever during placement tests. And the biggest idiot of them all, out to lend a friendly hand, is Akihisa Yoshii, Probationary Student! Meet the tomboyish tsundere from Germany Minami Shimada, the androgynous theater beauty Hideyoshi Kinoshita, pervy photographer buff Kouta Tsuchiya, the quiet but dangerously in love Shouko Kirishima, and the cool and ambitious Yuji Sakamoto. Get dragged along into this playful cast's energetic daily high school antics as they compete and cooperate in equal measure to prove that brains aren't everything when it comes to what matters about the students of Fumizuki Academy! Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts is a light-hearted romantic comedy with fantasy elements and a zany, over the top sense of humor. The show has a cheery and colorful shojo anime aesthetic. Though an overall sweet and funny story with a relatively young cast of characters, the frequent risque and sexually-implicit jokes make this not a suitable choice for children. The target demographic is young adult males, though the show has a wide potential appeal to female or older audiences as well. Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts was originally a light novel series written by Kenji Inoue and later adapted into the television anime series of the same name by Media Factory. It was directed by Shin Onuma and animated by Silver link. The show is licensed by Funimation for the North American English localization. The complete series is two seasons with 13 episodes each and 2 OVA episodes, equaling 29 total.
