The second episode of Kamisama Dolls, titled "A God's Training," continues the story of Kyohei and his sister Utao, who both possess the ability to control ancient gods known as "Kakashi."
As Kyohei struggles to come to terms with his past and the events that caused him to abandon his hometown and cut ties with his family, Utao takes it upon herself to train him in the art of Kakashi control.
The episode begins with Utao and Kyohei sparring with their respective Kakashi. Utao exhibits impressive control over her doll, while Kyohei struggles to even get his kakashi to move. Frustrated, Kyohei lashes out at Utao, insisting that he doesn't need her help and that Kakashi control is a useless skill.
Undeterred, Utao retorts that their family legacy and the safety of their village depend on their mastery of the Kakashi. She also reveals to Kyohei that their grandfather, who was the leader of the village, has passed away, and that their grandmother is now in charge.
In an effort to motivate Kyohei, Utao devises a training regimen that will push him to his limits. She takes him to a remote location in the forest, where they set up a makeshift training ground. There, Utao challenges Kyohei to a race through a treacherous obstacle course, with the condition that if he loses, he must apologize to her and acknowledge that he needs her help.
The race is grueling, with Kyohei struggling to keep up with Utao's superior control over her Kakashi. However, he manages to tap into his natural talent for athletics and ultimately cross the finish line first. Although he is victorious, Kyohei can't help but feel ashamed of his initial reluctance to take Kakashi control seriously.
As they make their way back to the village, Utao reveals to Kyohei that she has been tasked with protecting a young girl named Moyako, who is the granddaughter of a wealthy businessman and the target of a rival village's assassination plot. Utao fears that her inexperience could put Moyako in danger, and so she enlists Kyohei's help in keeping the girl safe.
Kyohei is initially hesitant to get involved, worrying that it will expose their whereabouts to the people he has been trying to avoid. However, he eventually agrees to help Utao, recognizing that it is his responsibility as a member of the village to protect its residents.
The remainder of the episode sees Utao and Kyohei working together to keep Moyako safe, fending off attacks from the rival village. In the process, Kyohei becomes more adept at controlling his Kakashi, and begins to understand the importance of his role in protecting his community.
Overall, "A God's Training" is an exciting episode that continues to explore the complex world of Kamisama Dolls. Through Utao and Kyohei's training and mission to protect Moyako, the episode delves into the themes of responsibility, duty, and sacrifice. With its well-paced action and character development, it leaves viewers eagerly anticipating what will happen next.
