In Late Nite Eats season 2 episode 5, host Jordan Andino travels to Halifax, Nova Scotia to explore the city’s late night food scene. Halifax is known for its seafood, and Andino wastes no time in sampling some of the city’s best, including fresh oysters and lobster rolls.

The episode kicks off at The Press Gang, a historic restaurant in downtown Halifax that serves up some of the city’s finest seafood dishes. Andino tries the restaurant’s crab cakes, made with fresh Atlantic crabmeat, and a classic lobster bisque.

Next, Andino heads to the Waterfront Warehouse, a popular spot for late night drinks and pub-style food. He tries the restaurant’s famous seafood poutine, which features fries topped with lobster, shrimp, and scallops, smothered in cheese and gravy. Andino also samples the Waterfront Warehouse’s fish tacos, which are stuffed with crispy cod and topped with avocado and mango salsa.

At the Bicycle Thief, a waterfront restaurant known for its Italian-inspired menu, Andino tries the restaurant’s signature lobster mac and cheese. The dish features large pieces of lobster mixed in with creamy, cheesy pasta.

Andino also explores some of Halifax’s food truck scene, sampling dishes from the Gecko Bus and The Food Wolf. The Gecko Bus serves up Asian-inspired dishes, and Andino tries the truck’s kimchi fried rice topped with a fried egg. At The Food Wolf, Andino tries a Kimchi Dog, which features a hot dog topped with spicy kimchi and Sriracha mayo.

To cap off the episode, Andino stops by the King of Donair, a Halifax institution that claims to have invented the donair, a popular Canadian wrap made with spiced meat, onions, tomatoes, and a sweet sauce. Andino tries the restaurant’s classic donair, as well as a poutine topped with donair meat.

Throughout the episode, Andino also gets a taste of Halifax’s nightlife scene, stopping by popular bars like The Lower Deck and The Stubborn Goat. At The Stubborn Goat, he tries the restaurant’s bacon-wrapped goat cheese-stuffed dates, a sweet and savory appetizer that pairs perfectly with a cold beer.
