Linebarrels of Iron Season 1 Episode 5 Guidepost to Tomorrow

As commanded by the JUDA headquarters, the Linebarrels squad is stuck with the babysitting job of looking after Yamashita Miu, a young girl who is the director of JUDA's Mind Control Division. While Kouichi, Risako, and Emi comply with the orders, they are left in a mystery as to why Miu needs to be put under their care. As they spend the day escorting Miu around town and showing her what daily life is like for high school students, they become more curious about what their mission really is.

While taking a break in a café, a bizarre incident occurs where random people begin to act strange and attack the group. After taking down the attackers, Kouichi and his friends realize that Miu has been targeted because of her position in JUDA. It is revealed that a secret organization known as Katou Organization wants to capture Miu to gain access to the Mind Control Division's technology. The Linebarrels crew become conflicted when they discover that JUDA is planning to abandon Miu despite knowing that she's in danger.

With no other options left, Kouichi takes the responsibility upon himself to protect Miu and they both leave the squad to go on the run from the villains. They end up in a forest where the makeshift shelter provides a chance for Miu to explain her research on the Linebarrels. Her research can solve the problem of what makes the Linebarrels run amok, causing heavy damages and endangering countless lives. As they have no time to waste in ensuring that the technology doesn't fall into the wrong hands, Kouichi decides to save Miu and her research even if it means directly disobeying JUDA's orders.

As they continue their escape, they come across a time capsule that the citizens of the town buried with hopeful messages for future generations. This inspires Miu to keep working on her research without losing hope for the future. The Katou Organization catches up to them and a fierce battle ensues. Thanks to the efforts of Kouichi and his team, they're able to fend off the enemies and get away while JUDA sends backup to take care of the situation.

As the episode comes to an end, Kouichi realizes the importance of having someone to protect and resolves to use his newfound abilities for the good of mankind. Meanwhile, the Linebarrels finally become fed up with its pilot and decides to give Kouichi an ultimatum that will surely change the course of his life.

Guidepost to Tomorrow is an action-packed episode with several thrilling fight scenes and plenty of twists and turns as the plot thickens. It showcases the strong bonds between Kouichi and his friends and how they're not afraid to go against authority to do what's right. A must-watch for fans of the mecha genre.
