In McHale's Navy season 1 episode 32 titled "Parents Anonymous," the mischievous crew of PT-73 are up to their usual antics as they try to get out of trouble. The episode starts with the arrival of a visitor who claims to be a navy inspector, Mrs. Harkins. However, the McHale crew soon discovers that she's actually a parent who has joined a group called Parents Anonymous. The group aims to transform "problem children" into well-behaved kids and encourage parents to be more involved in their children's lives.

Mrs. Harkins seems to be a bit of a control freak, and from the moment she steps onto the PT-73, she starts bossing everyone around. She doesn't take kindly to the mischievous nature of the crew, and her presence soon leads to conflicts. As one can expect, the McHale crew tries to avoid her, but as she is long forgotten in the day they discover they've locked her in a turret.

Meanwhile, Commander McHale is asked to speak at the Parents Anonymous meeting. He is reluctant at first, not having any experience in public speaking, but he eventually agrees. He realizes that he needs to help his crew get on the good side of Mrs. Harkins, as it will make their lives a lot easier.

The crew tries various ways to get close to Mrs. Harkins. Ensign Parker devises a plan to give her a gift, which backfires. A suggestion is made to invite her to a dinner party, but that also goes awry when the crew's cooking lead to the kitchen being destroyed. However, it is the act of accidentally locking up Mrs. Harkins in a turret that proves to be the turning point.

In the end, McHale's crew manages to win over Mrs. Harkins' heart, and she decides to leave the Navy and settle down to be a full-time mother to her son, thanks in no small part to McHale's rousing speech at the Parents Anonymous meeting.

The episode highlights the importance of understanding and accepting people who are different from us, as Mrs. Harkins learns to appreciate the crew's humor and camaraderie. It also serves as a reminder that despite the chaos that sometimes ensues, the McHale crew is a close-knit group that has each other's backs no matter what.
