In season 2 episode 10 of Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking, titled "America's Fruit Basket," host Pete Evans travels to California's Central Valley, known as America's Fruit Basket, to explore the rich agricultural history of the region and cook up a feast with some of its finest farmers and chefs.

First, Pete meets up with Maria Farias, whose family has been growing peaches, nectarines, and other stone fruits in the Central Valley for generations. She gives him a tour of the orchards and teaches him how to pick the perfect peach before heading to the kitchen to create a delicious peach salsa.

Next, Pete visits with Julie Guthman, a food activist and professor of social sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz, to discuss the impact of industrial agriculture on the region. They also visit a small-scale organic farm where they harvest fresh strawberries for the main course.

Pete then heads to Fresno to meet up with chef Paul Pearson, who shows him how to make a California-style pizza topped with grapes, goat cheese, and arugula. They also visit a local olive oil producer where they taste and learn about the different varieties of olive oil.

Finally, Pete heads to the historic town of Hanford to meet up with chef de cuisine at Fatema Ali and owner of La Costa Grill, Rudy Garcia, who teaches him how to cook a traditional Mexican dish called chiles en nogada, made with fresh pomegranates and walnuts.

Throughout the episode, Pete showcases the abundance of locally grown produce in the Central Valley and how chefs and farmers are coming together to create delicious and sustainable meals. The episode is a celebration of the region's rich culinary heritage and a testament to the hard work and dedication of its farmers and chefs.
