As soon as they finish their mid-term exams, Sawaki, Yuuki, and Kei head off to a fair that celebrates the latest advancements in agricultural technology. They are delighted to see so many latest machines and tools on display. On their way back, they come across Kei's father's land, which has not been tended to, and is covered in weeds. Kei is inspired to restore the land and get it into better shape, which will not only make her father proud but also benefit the local community.

Kei asks her friends to help her prepare the land for agriculture, and they are happy to assist her. They go through the land and clear the weeds, making room for new crops. During the clearing process, they come across a fallen-down fence which marks the boundary between their land and a neighboring farm. They realize that the fence has been lying there for a while and needs to be mended.

They decide that it is their duty to repair the fence as well, rather than leaving it as is. So, Kei and Sawaki decide to visit the neighboring farm and ask for permission to mend the fence. The owner of the neighboring farm is suspicious of them at first but after explaining the situation, he agrees to allow them to mend the fence.

After returning home, Kei and Sawaki start fixing the fence, but things don't go as smoothly as planned. They struggle with the tools and learn that fixing a fence is not as easy as it sounds. However, they are determined to get the job done and show that they are capable of doing it.

While working on the fence, Sawaki experiences flashbacks of his grandfather's farm, which had a similar broken fence. This leads to a discussion between him and Kei about the importance of taking care of the things that we own, whether it is a farm or anything else.

As they work, they attract a small group of kids from the local community who watch them work with curiosity. Kei realizes the opportunity for them to pass the message of caring for the land to the younger generation and teaches them the importance of maintaining fences, farming equipment, and other tools.

In the end, Kei and Sawaki are successful in mending the fence, and Kei's father is overjoyed to see his daughter's efforts to restore his land. He thanks her and her friends. As Kei and her friends walk away from the restored fence, they feel proud of their work. They know that mending the fence is more than just filling a hole; it's a symbol of the connection between the neighboring farms and their commitment to care for and nurture their land.

In conclusion, "Mending Fences" is an episode that teaches the audience about the importance of taking care of the things we own, whether it's a farm or anything else.
