In episode 4 of Rod Serling's Night Gallery season 1, viewers are treated to two tales of horror. The first story, "Make Me Laugh," tells the story of a struggling stand-up comedian who will do anything to make it big. When the comedian comes across a mysterious man who claims he can help him with his career, he jumps at the chance. But he soon realizes there is a dark and twisted price to pay for this new-found success.

In "Clean Kills and Other Trophies," a wealthy big-game hunter invites a journalist to his home to show off his collection of hunting trophies. As the journalist admires the various animals on display, he begins to notice something odd about them. Each one seems to be staring back at him with accusing eyes. As the night wears on, the journalist begins to understand the true cost of the hunter's obsession.

Both of these stories are classic examples of Rod Serling's unique brand of horror. Each one is filled with tension and suspense, keeping the viewer on the edge of their seat until the very end. "Make Me Laugh" in particular is a standout episode, exploring themes of ambition and the desperate desire for fame at any cost. The performances are superb, with veteran character actor Godfrey Cambridge delivering a particularly chilling turn as the mysterious stranger.

While Night Gallery may not be as popular as some of Serling's other works, such as The Twilight Zone, it remains a must-watch for fans of the horror genre. The show's combination of creepy stories and eerie artwork is sure to send shivers down your spine. And for those who appreciate the artistry of storytelling, it provides an interesting glimpse into the mind of one of America's most beloved writers.
