In the 13th episode of season 3 of No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain travels to Argentina to explore the rich culture of the country, particularly its food and drink.
Bourdain starts his journey in Buenos Aires, where he visits a traditional parrilla and tries some of the best grilled beef in the city. He also meets with a group of young people who are part of the vibrant art scene in Buenos Aires, and learns about the country's history and culture through their perspective.
Next, Bourdain heads to Mendoza, a province in western Argentina known for its wine production. He visits several wineries, learning about the different varietals and tasting some of the best wines in the region. Bourdain is wowed by the stunning landscape of the Mendoza region, with its sweeping vineyards and high altitude Andean peaks.
Continuing his exploration of Argentine cuisine, Bourdain travels to Bariloche, a town in the Patagonia region known for its chocolate production. Bourdain gets a behind-the-scenes look at a chocolate factory, trying his hand at making chocolate and indulging in some of the delicious treats on offer. He also meets with a group of locals who show him the traditional practice of asado, or Argentine barbecue, which involves slow-cooking meat over an open flame for hours on end.
In the final leg of his journey, Bourdain heads to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, located on the remote Tierra del Fuego islands. Here, he visits a local family who are expert fishermen, heading out onto the icy waters of the Beagle Channel to catch some of the freshest seafood around. Bourdain also takes a helicopter ride over the stunning glaciers and mountains of Tierra del Fuego, marvelling at the awe-inspiring landscape.
Throughout his travels, Bourdain immerses himself in the local culture, getting to know the people who call Argentina home and learning about their traditions and way of life. He also indulges in some of the best food and drink the country has to offer, from succulent grilled beef to rich, full-bodied wines and delectable chocolate treats. This episode of No Reservations is a celebration of Argentina and its unique culture, showcasing the country's many charms and delights.
