In the 25th episode of the seventh season of Pawn Stars, titled "Room and Hoard," the team at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop is presented with an impressive variety of items that range from quirky to historic. The show follows the typical format of focusing on three main items per episode, with a few smaller items thrown in along the way.
The first item is a vintage gum-ball machine that the owner, Gary, claims was made in the 1930s by the Norris Manufacturing Company. The team is impressed with the machine's excellent condition, but the real question is whether it functions properly - after all, what's a gum-ball machine without gum-balls? The team tries to negotiate a price with Gary, but as is often the case, they don't seem to be able to find common ground on the item's true value.
Next, a man named Michael enters the shop with a collection of World War II-era memorabilia. Among other items, he has a jacket that he claims belonged to legendary Soviet pilot Alexei Maresyev. According to Michael, Maresyev lost both his legs during the war, but was able to continue serving in the air force after getting prosthetic limbs. The jacket is covered in medals and other insignia, and is undeniably impressive. Despite the jacket's significance, the team is hesitant to make an offer on the spot, and they enlist the help of an expert to verify its authenticity.
The final item is a set of oil paintings by a Russian artist named Yuri Gorbachev. The paintings are highly detailed and impressive, using bright and bold colors to depict fantastical scenes and landscapes. The owner of the paintings, Coralie, is a former student of Gorbachev's and speaks highly of his art and his place in the contemporary art world. The team is impressed with the paintings, but as always, they're careful not to let their admiration impact their negotiating tactics.
Throughout the show, the team also takes a look at a variety of smaller items. One of the most interesting is a Civil War-era parole pass, which is essentially a handwritten note allowing a released prisoner of war to travel freely within the country. Chumlee is particularly taken with the note, and the team has fun ribbing him about his newfound interest in history.
As with every episode of Pawn Stars, "Room and Hoard" offers viewers a unique glimpse into the world of buying and selling rare and unusual items. From vintage gum-ball machines to priceless artifacts, the team at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop is always eager to get their hands on the next great find.
