Ep 2. School Is No Place For Horsing Around (1)

Ranma 1/2 season 1 episode 2, "School Is No Place For Horsing Around (1)," continues the story of Ranma Saotome, a martial artist who transforms into a girl whenever he gets wet with cold water. In this episode, Ranma and his father arrive in their new neighborhood and enroll in Furinkan High School. While there, they meet Akane Tendo, a girl with martial arts skills who has been arranged to marry Ranma. Despite their initial animosity towards each other, Ranma and Akane must work together to fend off the advances of Kuno, a delusional and pompous martial artist who has taken a liking to Akane.

The episode opens with Ranma and his father arriving in their new neighborhood, where they are greeted by Akane's father, who mistakes them for new students at Furinkan High School. After a quick introduction, Ranma and his father head to the school, where they quickly discover that Akane is one of their classmates. Akane is less than thrilled with the prospect of marrying Ranma, and the two immediately begin arguing.

Things take a turn for the worse when Kuno, a self-proclaimed martial arts master, makes his grand entrance. Kuno is immediately smitten with Akane and challenges Ranma to a fight to win her affections. Ranma initially refuses, but Kuno is persistent and eventually goads him into a duel.

During the fight, Ranma is able to hold his own against Kuno, and even manages to knock him into a koi pond. However, when Ranma himself gets splashed with water, he transforms into a girl. Kuno is immediately smitten with Ranma's female form and begins to pursue "her" relentlessly, much to Ranma's dismay.

The rest of the episode follows Ranma and Akane as they try to deal with Kuno's advances. Meanwhile, Ranma's curse continues to cause problems, as he keeps getting splashed with water and turning into a girl at inopportune times. Despite their differences, Ranma and Akane begin to bond as they work together to fend off Kuno and his army of delinquent lackeys.

Overall, "School Is No Place For Horsing Around (1)" is a strong follow-up to the series premiere. The episode does a good job of introducing new characters and setting up the ongoing love triangle between Ranma, Akane, and Kuno. It also continues to explore the themes of gender identity and masculinity that were introduced in the first episode, as Ranma struggles with his transformation into a girl and the effect it has on his reputation as a martial artist.
