After a series of intense episodes that revolve around the relationship between Max and Liz, "Roswell" takes a break to focus on Michael. In "Blood Brother," Michael is visited by his old foster father, Hank Whitmore. Michael is immediately suspicious of Hank's intentions, but Hank assures him that he's come to make amends. However, it quickly becomes clear that Hank's idea of making amends is very different from Michael's.

As Michael and Hank reconnect, the rest of the gang is dealing with their own problems. Kyle is trying to get over his feelings for Liz while Alex tries to get over his feelings for Isabel. Maria is feeling neglected by Michael, who is still preoccupied with Hank's visit. And Max is struggling with the fact that his best friend, Alex, has become distant and uninterested in their alien heritage.

Despite their other problems, the gang rallies around Michael when they realize that Hank is not to be trusted. As Hank's true intentions come to light, Michael is faced with a difficult decision that could change his life forever.

"Blood Brother" is a character-driven episode that focuses on Michael's past and his struggles with abandonment and trust. It's a powerful episode that shows just how far Michael has come since his days as an angry and brooding teenager. Unlike in previous episodes, there's no alien conspiracy or government cover-up to unravel. Instead, the episode is all about relationships and the ways in which they shape our lives.

One of the most interesting things about "Blood Brother" is the way it explores the dynamic between Michael and Hank. Hank is a human who has no knowledge of Michael's alien heritage, but he seems to know more about Michael than anyone else. He understands Michael's anger and pain, and he knows how to push his buttons. It's a complex relationship that is both touching and disturbing.

The episode also delves into the relationships between the other characters. Kyle is still struggling with his feelings for Liz, and he confides in Max about his frustrations. Alex, on the other hand, is trying to move on from Isabel and is starting to date other girls. Maria, who is feeling neglected by Michael, turns to Liz for support. It's nice to see the characters supporting each other, even when they're not the focus of the episode.

The episode is also notable for its use of flashbacks. We get to see several scenes from Michael's past, including his first meeting with Hank and his transfer to Roswell. These flashbacks add depth to Michael's character and help us to understand why he is the way he is. They're also just plain fun to watch, as we get to see the characters in high school with bad haircuts and questionable fashion choices.

Overall, "Blood Brother" is a strong episode that continues to build on the show's emotional core. It's a nice change of pace from the alien conspiracy storylines and shows that the show's writers are capable of telling compelling character-driven stories. If you're a fan of the show's characters, this is an episode you don't want to miss.
