Jaws of the Deep, the fifth episode of Shark Week season 2016, explores the mysterious behavior and feeding habits of deep-sea sharks. The show follows a team of researchers and filmmakers as they venture into the dark depths of the ocean to uncover the secrets of these elusive creatures.

The episode begins with dramatic footage of a great white shark attacking a seal on the surface, reminding viewers of the dangers these predators pose to humans. But as the team sets out on their expedition, they encounter a different kind of shark, one that is rarely seen and little understood.

Their first target is the bluntnose sixgill shark, a massive beast that can grow up to 20 feet long and is found in deep waters around the world. Using bait and a specialized underwater camera, the team captures stunning footage of the sixgill as it devours its prey. They also attach a satellite tag to one of the sharks, allowing them to track its movements and behavior over the coming months.

Next, the team heads to the Gulf of Mexico to search for another deep-sea predator, the Cuban dogfish. This small, elusive shark is notoriously difficult to study, but the team hopes to shed light on its behavior and habitat. Using a combination of underwater cameras and acoustic tags, they are able to capture rare footage of the dogfish hunting and swimming in its natural environment.

As they dive deeper into the ocean, the team encounters yet another mysterious shark: the goblin shark. This bizarre-looking creature has a long, protruding snout and jaws that can extend several inches to snatch its prey. Using a ROV (remotely operated vehicle), the team captures stunning footage of the goblin shark in action, revealing its unique feeding behavior and astonishing speed.

Finally, the team sets their sights on the ultimate deep-sea predator: the elusive and rarely seen frilled shark. Known as a living fossil, the frilled shark has remained virtually unchanged for millions of years and is thought to be one of the oldest creatures on earth. Using a combination of bait and underwater cameras, the team finally captures footage of the frilled shark in its natural habitat, revealing its bizarre appearance and terrifying feeding habits.

Throughout the episode, experts provide fascinating insights into the biology and behavior of these deep-sea sharks, from their unique adaptations to their role in the ocean ecosystem. Viewers will be both awestruck and terrified by these magnificent and terrifying creatures of the deep.
