Ep 5. This Path the Crystallization of Premonition

Shirayuki is a kind and talented herbalist who meets a charming young man named Zen while working in her hometown. When the kingdom's prince orders her to become his concubine, Shirayuki decides to flee instead. Zen sends his guard, Mitsuhide, to accompany her to his home kingdom, clarifying that he has no romantic interest in Shirayuki.

In This Path the Crystallization of Premonition, Shirayuki is still adjusting to life in her new home kingdom of Clarines. She continues to work as a court herbalist and has even made a few friends among the castle staff. However, her peaceful routine is disrupted when she receives a letter from her mentor, Garack. Garack has detected unusual crystals in the mountains near his home and has asked for Shirayuki's help in investigating.

Shirayuki eagerly accepts the invitation and sets off with the palace guard, Obi, to meet Garack. Along the way, she senses that they are being followed and keeps her guard up. She is proven right when they are ambushed by a group of men. Obi fights them off while Shirayuki takes a moment to collect herself.

When they finally reach Garack's home, Shirayuki is dismayed to see that her mentor has collapsed and is barely conscious. Garack explains that he had gone to investigate the crystals on his own and was attacked by the same men who ambushed Shirayuki. He manages to show her the crystals he discovered, which have some unusual properties. Garack also warns her about a group of people who are seeking the crystals for their own purposes.

As Shirayuki prepares to leave with the crystals, Obi appears to have been knocked out by someone. Shirayuki is then confronted by the leader of the group Garack warned her about. He is interested in the crystals and tries to force Shirayuki to hand them over. With quick thinking and a little help from Garack, Shirayuki manages to escape with the crystals and with Obi in tow.

Back at the palace, Shirayuki presents the crystals to Zen, who recognizes them as a rare mineral used in alchemy. Shirayuki then reveals her suspicion that the men who attacked her and Garack are connected to the kingdom's neighbor, Tanbarun. Zen takes note of this and promises to look into it.

This episode of Snow White with the Red Hair is action-packed and reveals more about the world Shirayuki and Zen inhabit. It also continues to showcase Shirayuki's strong and resourceful character as she faces danger head-on.
