A Dangerous Game is the very first episode of Sons of Liberty's Season 1, which introduces the audience to Samuel Adams, one of the founding fathers of America and a central character in the show. The episode opens in 1765 in Colonial America, where Samuel Adams is seen addressing a group about standing up against tyranny. The scene quickly transitions to a group of politicians in England, discussing the tax law that has been imposed on the Americans. England has decided to raise the taxes to help pay off their debt from the French and Indian War. Samuel's cousin, John Adams, who practices law in Boston, is also introduced in the episode.

In the next scene, Samuel is having a conversation with his father about the British government. He feels that every move made by them is an attempt to oppress the American colonies. Samuel is determined to resist the tyranny of the British government, while his father feels that paying taxes is a small price to pay for living in a civilized society. The conversation reveals the difference in opinions between the younger and older generation.

The episode then follows Samuel and his group of friends as they plot a scheme to intimidate the stamp collectors appointed by the British government. They attack the home of a collector, forcing him to resign his post. Samuel and his friends also burn an effigy of the British Prime Minister to show their disapproval of his policies. This form of protest spreads throughout the colonies.

Meanwhile, John is dealing with the legal cases of the collectors who have resigned their posts and the British government is seeking his assistance in prosecuting them. John is hesitant to help the British government and his loyalties are tested when an old friend is accused of being involved in the riot at the collector’s house. He decides to defend his friend in the trial, leading to a confrontation with his British counterparts.

The episode introduces the audience to other important characters such as Dr. Joseph Warren, an influential physician, and John Hancock, a rich merchant. The two characters have very different backgrounds and personalities, but both share the same concerns for the future of the colonies.

A Dangerous Game highlights the beginning of the American Revolution and the actions that led to the eventual war with England. Samuel, along with other influential figures, believed in the American cause and fought for the rights of the people. The episode is a simple introduction to the story but sets the tone for what's to come in the series. The show is not a documentary but is is a dramatization of the events that took place, and while the characters are not one hundred percent accurate portrayals, they serve to give viewers an engaging narrative and a better understanding of American history.

Sons of Liberty tells the story of how the American Revolution began, and how a few brave men stood up to the might of the British Empire. A Dangerous Game sets up the story for the rest of the series, with clear indications of what the main characters are up against. It is an introductory episode that gives viewers a glimpse of the political landscape of the time and what led to the start of the Revolution, as well as the personal sacrifices made by those who fought for the ideal of freedom.
