Spotlight tells a story about office politics among the news reporters who deliver the news to the public. Woo-Jin is achieving her dream to become a news anchorwoman at the six o'clock news while she is still spending her first years as a cub reporter on the news desk. On the other hand, Oh Tae Sook is Woo-Jin's harsh boss who gives a rigorous training to Woo-Jin to become a better anchorwoman. At the beginning of the story, Woo-Jin interviews a fugitive but the tape that was recording her interview gets taken away by the police since she was disrupting with their manhunt. When the tape is returned, the audio is missing and the interview is unable to be aired leading Woo-Jin to a big dilemma among her peers at the news desk. Oh Tae Sook gives her many difficult assignments along the way to train her while they develop feelings for each other.
