Ep 1. The Search, Part I

Stardate 48212.4: After the tumultuous events of the second season, the Federation space station, Deep Space Nine, is once again the center of monumental happenings. In "The Search, Part I," the first episode of season three, the Dominion, an enigmatic and powerful force in the Gamma Quadrant, has cut off contact with the space station.

To investigate, Commander Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) and a team from Deep Space Nine set off on the Defiant, a tough little ship with the firepower and speed to match many of the Dominion's ships. Their mission is to seek out the Dominion home world and try to establish a dialogue with its leaders.

As the Defiant speeds through the wormhole that connects the two quadrants, Sisko and the team are faced with unexpected challenges. Alongside the renegade Ferengi, Quark (Armin Shimerman), they run into a group of Jem'Hadar fighters, the Dominion's formidable soldiers who are engineered for battle from infancy.

Sisko and his team come close to being destroyed in their first encounter with the Jem'Hadar, but they soon realize that they have a new ally in Odo (Rene Auberjonois), Deep Space Nine's resident shape-shifter, who has decided to join the team on their mission.

As tensions mount and danger escalates, Sisko must balance his responsibility for the safety of his crew with his determination to establish peaceful communication with the Dominion. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Deep Space Nine, including Sisko's son Jake (Cirroc Lofton), his best friend, Doctor Julian Bashir (Alexander Siddig), and his love interest, Major Kira Nerys (Nana Visitor), are left to fend for themselves.

"The Search, Part I" sets the stage for a high-stakes conflict that will dominate much of the third season of Deep Space Nine. Viewers will delight in seeing Sisko and his crew face off against the formidable Jem'Hadar soldiers, with new twists and turns that will keep them guessing until the very end.
