Ep 9. Miss Macross

As the Super Dimension Fortress Macross continues its journey to Earth, the crew decides to put on a beauty pageant to boost morale. The contestants include the ship's own bridge officer Misa Hayase and local pop star Lynn Minmay.

As rehearsals for the pageant begin, tensions rise between Lynn and Misa, each vying for the attention of Hikaru Ichijo, the ship's skilled pilot. Despite Hikaru's reluctance to participate in the pageant as a judge, he ultimately agrees to do so.

As the pageant gets underway, an unexpected attack from the alien Zentradi threatens the Macross. Despite the danger, the show must go on, and Lynn decides to perform a song she wrote for the pageant. With the help of a holographic stage and stunning special effects, she enchants both the audience and the Zentradi attackers.
