Ep 1. Witch of the Resplendent Flames

In the world of Asterisk, the power to use a supernatural ability called "Lux" exists within some humans. Ayato Amagiri is a transfer student to Seidoukan Academy, where students called "Genestella" who can use Lux, opt to participate in a series of battles called "Festa". Ayato, who transferred to Seidoukan Academy to find his sister, who disappeared a few years earlier, is drawn into the world of Festa, where students wield their Lux in battles where the winner of each battle earns the right to take symbols called "strega". Ayato meets Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, a transfer student from a rival school. Julis is a young woman who is participating in Festa to reclaim her family's honor after they were cut off entirely from the aristocratic class of the Integrated Empire. Ayato unexpectedly ends up sharing Julis's room, and she challenges him to a duel the next morning. They are interrupted by Claudia Enfield, Student Council President of Seidoukan Academy and organizer of Festa, along with her Vice-President, Lester MacPhail. They convince Julis and Ayato to participate in a special duel on the rooftop. The duel is interrupted when they see a witch floating nearby who has come to steal a sacred object. Nevertheless, Ayato and Julis team up to fight the witch and retrieve the stolen object. Along the way, Ayato reveals his past connection to the Integrated Empire's upper class and his reason for coming to Seidoukan Academy.
