Meanwhile, Johnny is visiting Walt Bannerman (Chris Bruno), his old friend and the town's sheriff. Johnny has a vision of a man walking into the sheriff's office and confessing to a murder. Johnny believes this vision may be related to Eric and Lisa's abduction and insists on helping the sheriff solve the case.

As Johnny and Sheriff Bannerman investigate, they discover that the victim of the murder confessing to in Johnny's vision was killed years ago, and the confessed killer is a notorious con artist who has claimed to have committed dozens of crimes he never actually did. However, Johnny is convinced that this man, known as the Inside Man, is somehow involved in the current case.

With the help of Sarah (Nicole de Boer), a scientist who is studying Johnny's abilities, and Bruce (John L. Adams), a local reporter, Johnny and Sheriff Bannerman track down the Inside Man and manage to provoke him into confessing to Lisa's abduction. But before they can rescue her, the Inside Man gives them a shocking ultimatum that puts Johnny's life in danger.
