Bill Maxwell and Ralph Hinkley become entangled in a dangerous arson ring in season 1 episode 6 of The Greatest American Hero, titled "Fire Man."
The episode starts with Ralph and Bill investigating a string of suspicious fires throughout the city. They soon discover that the fires are all connected to a shady businessman named Tommy Chase, who owns several properties that have burned down for insurance payouts.
As Ralph and Bill try to gather evidence against Chase, they are threatened and intimidated by his henchmen. Meanwhile, Ralph is still struggling with mastering his superhuman abilities and accidentally causes a fire while trying to stop another one.
Things come to a head when Ralph and Bill confront Chase and his crew at a deserted warehouse. A fiery showdown ensues, with Ralph finally gaining control of his powers and using them to save himself and Bill from the flames.
In the end, the arsonists are brought to justice and Ralph gains a newfound confidence in his superhero abilities. "Fire Man" is an exciting episode filled with suspenseful action and character development.
