After Elizabeth gets hurt when she is pinned under a pile of logs Jim Bob and Ben failed to tie down in the truck, Mary Ellen has to inform the family that a specialist has to operate on Elizabeth. Once she is out of surgery and the family learns that Elizabeth could have nerve damage in her legs, Jim Bob decides to run away, because of how guilty he is to have caused her accident, but decides to stay after Jason tells him that he should stay at home since Elizabeth will still love him no matter what.
