Ep 17. The Burden

After Olivia left home, John has become increasing worried about how Jim Bob has been running with the wrong crowd. He soon gets into trouble with Corabeth when he almost runs her down. When she goes over to the Walton’s to give John a piece of her mind, Jim Bob overhears her complaints and attempts to defend what happened by saying his car had no breaks. After John orders him to fix the breaks, he gets trapped under the car when it falls off the jack that Jim Bob placed it on, and he is able to escape injury. At this point, he takes what happened as a sign that God wants him to change his ways, so he decides to become a preacher. However, when he finds out how much schooling has to be done in order to get a degree, he changes his mind. When John and Grandma find out what is causing Jim Bob to think this way, they soon have a heart-to-heart talk with him.
