In Triple D Nation season 1 episode 22 titled Coastal Cuisine, host Guy Fieri revisits some of his favorite coastal restaurants that have been featured in past episodes of his hit show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, to see what new and exciting dishes they have added to their menus.
The episode starts with Guy heading to Charleston, South Carolina, to check out Jack's Cosmic Dogs, a hot dog joint that is out of this world. The owner, Jack, serves up unique hot dogs with toppings like blue cheese coleslaw and sweet potato mustard. After trying a classic chili cheese dog and a new creation called a "Space Pup," Guy heads up the coast to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In Virginia Beach, Guy stops by The Tin Cup Kitchen and Oyster Bar, where the owner, Jamie, is serving up some of the freshest seafood in town. Jamie takes Guy out on a fishing vessel to catch some blue crabs that they will cook and serve on the show. Back at the restaurant, Jamie also prepares a delicious dish called "Oysters Tin Cup" that features oysters topped with bacon jam, BBQ sauce, and pimento cheese.
Next, Guy heads to Wilmington, North Carolina, to visit a classic diner called Casey's Buffet and BBQ. The restaurant has been serving up southern comfort food for over 30 years, and Guy is excited to try their award-winning pork shoulder. Casey's also specializes in seafood, so Guy tries their famous shrimp and grits before heading to his next destination.
In Savannah, Georgia, Guy visits Rancho Alegre Cuban Restaurant, where the owner, Roberto, is serving up some of the best Cuban cuisine outside of Havana. Guy tries some classic dishes like ropa vieja and Cuban sandwiches before being treated to a new creation featuring grilled octopus.
The final stop on the coastal tour takes Guy to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he visits a restaurant called Queen of Sheeba Ethiopian Cuisine. Here, the owner, Lojo, serves up traditional Ethiopian dishes like injera bread and spicy lentils. Guy is amazed by the flavors and the unique way of eating that involves using the injera bread to scoop up the various dishes.
Throughout the episode, Guy also catches up with some of the restaurant owners to see how they have been doing since appearing on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. He is impressed with the continued success of these small businesses and the amazing food that they are creating.
