Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is an action packed, soulful story about two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, and their quest for redemption. Amidst plenty of intrigue, plots, and twists, the boys travel the land with the goal in mind of finding the ever elusive, Philosopher's Stone. The atmosphere is urban, supernatural, mysterious and dark. There are many underlying issues presented in each episode that parallel the issues that, people watching, can relate to on a very visceral level.

Ed and Al's father seem totally absent from their lives. He traveled for business. The boys were raised by their mother, alone. Then, tragedy struck. Their mother died when a sickness overcame their village. He and his brother missed her and still needed her to be there for them. Ed studied alchemy for many years so that he might find a way to bring her back. Ultimately, Edward lost his leg trying to use forbidden alchemy to resurrect his dead mother. His younger brother Al, lost his life. In a last ditch effort to regain his brother, Edward sacrificed his arm to bring his brother back. He bonded his little brother's soul to a suit of armor. When the boys looked, they saw an unnatural creature. They failed to bring their mother back and paid a heavy price for their attempt. Thus, their journey begins in earnest.

The boys agree to work for the government so they can access otherwise restricted knowledge. Ed is disillusioned but confident that he will find away to restore his brother's body and his own limbs. To do this, they need the Philosopher's Stone. Each of the heart stopping episodes bring the boys closer to the stone, and closer to death. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a must see.
