Law & Order: Criminal Intent kicks off its first season with an edge-of-your-seat episode titled "One," which explores what happens when a beautiful young woman is found murdered in her own apartment.

Detective Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) is called to the scene of the crime, where he quickly realizes that this is not a simple open-and-shut case. The victim, Jessica Benson, was a brilliant college student with a promising future ahead of her, and there seems to be no motive for her murder.

Goren and Eames soon discover that Jessica had been dating a wealthy older man, and that her murder may be connected to their relationship. However, when they dig deeper, they uncover a shocking truth about the victim's family that leads them down a path of betrayal and deceit.

As the investigation heats up, Goren and Eames find themselves in a race against time to catch the killer before they strike again. With each twist and turn in the case, they grow more and more determined to bring justice to Jessica's family and put an end to the killer's reign of terror.
