Watch Lilyhammer

Lilyhammer is a part comedy and part drama television series about a former mobster trying to make a fresh start in the Norwegian town of Lillehammer. Oddly enough the tough guy requests that his witness protection relocation take him to a town he was fascinated by through the 1994 Winter Olympics. Of course, the onetime gangster finds that by using the skill set that made him notorious in the United States, he can make new life all the easier.

The mobster in the story, Frank Tagliano, complicates his new life by falling in love and before too long is expecting twins with the New York transplant. The soon to be mother of his children starts to feel the weight of the secrets that hang over Frank's life before he showed up in Norway, and the questions start to eat away at her about the hours he spends at work and what his past life entailed. The gangster has difficulties coming up with convincing lies to tell the most important person in his new life.

The new life starts to unravel with a series of shady business deals, but the skills and mentality that made Frank such a feared member of organized crime in America prove to equally handy at convincing his new business associates that he is a man that should be feared. However, he is always haunted by the chance that his past could create even more problems in his new surroundings.

Lilyhammer can draw comparisons and inspiration to a number of different organized crime shows. The violence contained the show is just as convincing as anything else on television. The main character is trying to start a new life, but fails to adjust to a clean lifestyle. The series is about a guy trying to make it on his own with what he has, but he wants to be better he just doesn't know how. Eventually, everybody is his circle gets drawn into his new life, which closely mirrors the one he left.
