Hank Goes Black is the eighth episode of the third season of Sullivan & Son. The episode centers around Hank, who seeks to change his "image" and distance himself from the stereotypical "angry white guy" persona he believes he exhibits.

After being mistaken for someone else by an African American client, Hank decides to embrace black culture and style in an attempt to be seen as more "cool" and likable. He purchases a new wardrobe, including a pair of bright red sneakers, and begins listening to rap music. This newfound interest doesn't go unnoticed by his family and friends at the bar.

Meanwhile, Steve struggles with the realization that he might have feelings for Melanie, leading to a series of awkward encounters between the two. As they attempt to navigate their new dynamic, they are forced to confront their suppressed emotions and figure out what they truly want from each other.

Throughout the episode, Hank's attempts to relate to and impress his black clientele lead to a series of comedic mishaps and misunderstandings. His family and co-workers try to support him in his new endeavor, but struggle to keep up with his new persona.

As the night progresses, tensions rise at the bar when Hank's behavior leads to a confrontation with a black patron, forcing him to confront his own prejudices and preconceived notions about race.

Hank Goes Black highlights the importance of understanding and respecting other cultures, as well as the dangers of trying to change oneself solely to fit in or be accepted. The episode is a humorous yet poignant take on the struggles of identity and belonging in a diverse world.
