Ep 2. Getting Settled

As the Clampett family continues to adjust to their newfound wealth, they begin the process of settling into their luxurious Beverly Hills mansion. In the second episode of The Beverly Hillbillies, appropriately titled "Getting Settled," we see the family navigate their new lifestyle and all the quirks that come with it.

Upon arriving at their mansion, the first thing Granny notices is the lack of a proper kitchen. Being used to cooking on an open flame stove, she insists that they need to build a smokehouse and outdoor kitchen. Jethro takes on the task of constructing this and learns some valuable lessons about the differences between Beverly Hills and back home in the Ozarks.

Meanwhile, Ellie May is taken under the wing of her new neighbor, Mrs. Drysdale, who is determined to transform the hillbilly girl into a refined and cultured lady of society. Ellie, however, has different plans, preferring to wear her denim overalls and play with her animals.

Mr. Clampett, meanwhile, is preoccupied with finding a way to deposit his newfound millions into a local bank. However, he quickly learns that the Beverly Hills bankers are not quite accustomed to the customs of the Clampett clan. Despite their initial hesitance, Mr. Drysdale, the president of the bank, agrees to hold the Clampett fortune in a secure and confidential manner.

Throughout the episode, we see the family encounter various challenges and obstacles as they try to integrate into their new life. From Granny's desire for a proper kitchen to Ellie May's hesitation towards conforming to Beverly Hills society, the Clampett's are finding that their traditions and way of life are clashing with their new surroundings.

As the episode draws to a close, we see Mr. Clampett sitting on his front porch, surveying his new property. He is clearly conflicted, feeling a sense of nostalgia for his old life but also reveling in the newfound luxury that his millions have brought him.
