Watch The Venture Bros.

From the outside looking in the Venture Bros. appears to be a parody of popular adventure cartoons from the sixties, but is actually much smarter than the content would imply. The titular brothers are actually not the focal point of the show at all. The main character is Dr. Thaddeus 'Rusty' Venture, a middle-aged balding scientist desperately trying to escape the shadow of his father. His two sons, Hank, and Dean are naive and adventurous, which often gets them into trouble, but it doesn't matter, they're just clones anyway. Brock Samson is the muscle of the group, and while he cares deeply for the boys safety and has a genuine friendship with Dr. Venture, there is an intriguing air of longing and sadness around him. And don't forget H.E.L.P.e.R., the robot built to be a mother figure for the boys.

As for actual plot, things get a little blurry. The Monarch is the self-proclaimed 'arch-nemesis' of Dr. Venture. He dresses as a monarch butterfly, complete with wings and antennae, as do his seemingly limitless lackeys, and flies around in a giant hive of some sort. His partner, Dr. Girlfriend, a gorgeous woman with quite a distinct masculine voice, sits at his side as they try to infiltrate the Venture Laboratory for reasons never really made clear. Although the Monarch bases his entire life around destroying Dr. Venture, to the point of a frenzied obsession, Rusty thinks of him as nothing more than an annoying crazy man who tries to break into his house from time to time.

You'll frequently hear characters refer to The Guild of Calamitous Intent. This appears to be some sort of secret society that creates rules and laws by which super-villains and heroes alike must abide. Although talked about casually, as a viewer, you want to know what secrets are to to be told, and what mysteries lies ahead. It lures you in subtly and once you're hooked, you're never going to want to let it go until you know all of the answers.
