Jake Epping continues his mission to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in the past by going deeper into the complexities of the past. In the second episode of the first season of the show, entitled The Kill Floor, Jake has finally made it to Jodie, Texas, where he gets a job at the local slaughterhouse called The Kill Floor.

As he begins to work there, he meets a number of interesting characters, including Bill Turcotte, a drunken young man who has just been released from prison after being falsely accused of stealing a car. Jake also meets Sadie Dunhill, a beautiful, intelligent young woman who is the school librarian and who seems to be hiding a secret of her own.

Jake's mission is complicated by the fact that he is falling in love with Sadie, despite the fact that he knows he cannot stay in the past forever. He also has to contend with the sinister presence of Frank Dunning, a local car dealer and wife-beater who is destined to commit a terrible crime in the future.

Meanwhile, Jake continues to investigate possible leads as to who might be behind the plot to kill JFK. He visits the local newspaper archives and discovers a strange article that hints at a possible conspiracy involving local government officials. He also hears rumors about a mysterious man named Yellow Card Man who may hold the key to his success or failure.

As Jake navigates the complexities of the past, he realizes that every action he takes could have unforeseen consequences. He struggles with the ethical question of whether he should stop Dunning from committing his horrific deed, knowing that it could potentially change the course of history.

The Kill Floor is an intense, suspenseful episode that ramps up the tension and intrigue that was introduced in the first episode. The show's attention to detail in recreating the 1960s is impressive, with stunning cinematography and period-appropriate costumes and sets. The performances by James Franco as Jake, Sarah Gadon as Sadie, and Chris Cooper as the menacing Frank Dunning are all top-notch.

Overall, The Kill Floor is an excellent second episode that sets the stage for the rest of the season. With its intriguing plot, complex characters, and stunning visuals, it keeps viewers on the edge of their seats and eager for more.
