9 By Design is a reality television program on the Bravo network. It is a show that is centered on the family design business of Robert and Cortney Novogratz. The Novogratzes live in New York City and have seven children. They renovate homes for themselves and clients while also living in the moment at the same time. The couple describes themselves as being pretty extraordinary. Most New Yorkers do not have seven kids and live in huge unique houses but these two make it work no matter what type of project they are working on. The methods that they use when decorating homes are excellent. They typically go to antique, vintage, and second hand shops to find unique pieces that they can paint, stain, or re-create so that they can make unique items. The show is unique in that the parents are free spirited and they roll with the punches. The reality show highlights the inner workings of a large family. Most home renovation shows do not do this. The viewer gets to see Cortney and Robert and their kids and friends interact every episode. This show allows adults and kids to sit on the couch and learn about design while watching a pretty family friendly show. The Novogratzes take homes and other locations such as old stores and turn them into multi-million dollar gems. They teach viewers the step by step process in which to create one of a kind picture frames, furniture pieces, and fixtures for their homes. The best thing about the show is that it is a reality show where people can learn things and see the best that New York City has to offer. The city that never sleeps delivers with this fun program.
